KNOW YOUR PURPOSE

As an official, it’s not about “you”.  You are part of the 3rd team on
the field or court.  Making an emphatic
signal when you need to sell a call is part of good officiating, but actions
and signals designed to draw attention to yourself and away from the players is
unprofessional.  Always use standard
mechanics and signals that are designed for the level of play.
