Duane “Doc” Ogle

69, of Comanche, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 28, 2012.

Funeral services, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Comanche, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche, with Pastor Chad Smart officiating. Interment will follow in the White Point Cemetery in Comanche County. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net.

“Doc” was born Sept. 25, 1942, in Stephenville, Texas, to Thurman George (Pat) Ogle and Mary Lynn (Whitman) Ogle. He attended and graduated from Stephenville High School continuing to study at Tarleton State College completing his BS in Chemistry. He taught 37 years as a science teacher at Comanche High School and then five years at Priddy ISD.

“Doc” is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cherry Ogle of Comanche; mother, Mary Lynn Ogle of Stephenville; daughter, Kym Ogle of Brownwood; son, Dustin Ogle and wife Angie of Weatherford; grandson, Garrison Cartner of Brownwood; granddaughters, Scotlyn and Brittyn Ogle of Weatherford; sister, Lynda Parr and husband Gary of Stephenville; and brother, Dale Ogle and wife Kathleen of Round Rock. Extended family includes sisters‑in‑law Cindy Ganske and husband Bryan, Debbie Hightower and husband Doyle, and Carole Wallace and husband Wayne; uncle, Sid Whitman; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Pat Ogle.
“Doc” loved hunting, fishing, and all sports. He was happiest when he was at his deer lease with his hunting buddies and calling football, baseball, and softball games. He served as a football referee for Pecan Valley Football Association and for over 20 years, called high school games, especially Six‑man. He umpired for both the Heart of Texas Softball Association and the 4 Cities Baseball Association for over 20 years, also.

Pall Bearers will be Carol Abbey, Eugene Bates, Jeremy Bobo, Ricky Johnson, Raul Martinez and Larry Morgan.
